Save the original vertical video
A public Short can be shared as a /shorts/ URL, a youtu.be link or a regular watch address. This page accepts those YouTube links and keeps the original media file rather than stretching the recording into a landscape frame. The portrait preview uses the available space without cropping the video. Actual dimensions come from the source; not every Short has the same aspect ratio or resolution.
You can also paste a regular YouTube video link. Its original proportions remain unchanged. A landscape upload does not become a vertical Short because it is downloaded on this page. If you need to reframe your own recording, make that change in a video editor after saving the source.
Choose quality and save on a phone
Compare the formats returned for your clip and look for a complete file with sound if that is what you need. A short duration does not guarantee 1080p or 4K availability. On iPhone, inspect Safari downloads or Files; on Android, check the browser download manager. A saved file may need a separate share or import action before it appears in your photo library.
Unavailable Shorts and temporary links
Private, removed or restricted Shorts may not extract. Check whether you can open the original public post and retry only if the error seems temporary. Downloading does not bypass a creator’s privacy settings or give permission to republish their work.
Download 4K download tickets are valid for 45 minutes. The upstream media URL may expire sooner. Paste the original YouTube link again to request fresh results; a public post can still become unavailable or be removed.
